Shalaa's Sassy Jenni Makes Winning Debut

Mark Smith - Friday March 1

The Happy 70th Paul Sinclair Hcp (1200m) for two-year-old at Moonee Valley on Friday settled down to a match race from go to whoa between the Shalaa (IRE) filly Sassy Jenni and the Capitalist colt Sky Cap.

The Ben, Will, and JD Hayes-trained Sassy Jenni refused to be headed at her career debut under Zac Spain to defeat the Sky Cap a half neck with the Shamus Award colt Sammaan City third of the five runners.

A $160,000 purchase for T Ottobre’s Cape Schanck Stud from the Corumbene Stud draft at the 2023 Magic Millions, Sassy Jenni is the second winner from three to race for the stakes-placed Sheer Style, a 3-time winning daughter of Snitzel.

Warren Ganderton paid $21,000 for Sheer Style’s Astern colt at the Magic Millions in January.
