Tara Madgwick - Tuesday February 27

Justify (USA) had an impressive maiden winner at Bendigo on Tuesday and this lightly raced colt has a half-brother to be offered at Inglis Premier by Kia Ora Stud.

Trained by Liam Howley, Bogues had one unplaced start last year behind subsequent stakes-winner Snow Patrol and was having his second run back froma  spell in the 1600m maiden.

Sent out favourite, he relished the mile and powered to the line for Jordan Childs to win by three lengths

A $240,000 Inglis Easter purchase for Liam Howley Racing / Andrew Williams Bloodstock from Kia Ora Stud, Bogues runs for a partnership that includes Kia Ora and TFI.

“It was a really pleasing win and a great result for the owners,” said Liam Howley.

“Kia Ora and TFI stuck with me early and I really appreciate their support and there are a great group of other owners here too. He’s a good colt with a big future.

“We think he’s better when he can cruise along and has a really good turn of foot off that high cruising speed which he showed today. Long term we think he might be a South Australian Derby horse, but we have plenty of options.”

Bogues is the first winner for Group III placed So You Think mare Coral Coast, a daughter of Group I winner Dorabella from the family of Group I New Zealand One Thousand Guineas winner Media Sensation.

Lot 181 - Farnan colt from Coral Coast.

Kia Ora Stud will offer a yearling colt by Farnan from Coral Coast at Inglis Premier as Lot 181.

Justify has nine entries for Inglis Premier that are sure to be in hot demand.

He made it a winning double at Bendigo when talented filly Clavadatsch bolted in to win by four lengths over 1300m for the Anthony and Sam Freedman stable.

Retained to race by Coolmore and partners, Clavadatsch has won two of four starts and is the first foal of Group III placed Fastnet Rock mare Art Collection, a sibling to Australian Horse of the Year and five time Group I winning sprinter Lankan Rupee and to the dams of Group winner Count de Rupee and stakes-winner Manhattan Street.
