Two Cracking Premier Colts for B2B Thoroughbreds

Southern Highlands nursery B2B Thoroughbreds only have two yearlings for Inglis Premier this year and given they are colts by Snitzel and Ole Kirk, Ricky Surace and his team can expect plenty of interest when they start parading at Oaklands this week.

First into the ring will be Lot 128, a colt by champion sire Snitzel from well related Japanese bred mare Beetobee (Jpn), who was a winner at Moonee Valley in Australia from a handful of starts.

He is the second foal of Beetobee, a grand-daughter Japanese Champion Filly and Mare Mejiro Dober and half-sister by Symboli Kris S to Group III winner Ho O Ixelles.

“The Snitzel x Beetobee colt hails from a very strong Japanese pedigree and we cannot be happier with the way he has come up during yearling prep,” said Ricky Surace.

“He is a big, strong type with plenty of scope and a massive shoulder, a lot of people have said his physique reminds them of Shamus Award. He is a pleasure to do anything with and I do believe that his half-sister by Microphone (sold for $375,000 at Magic Millions last year) will be a lovely three year old.”

The Microphone filly has been named Noises and given to Brad Widdup to train. She looked promising when finishing second in a barrier trial at Hawkesbury on Tuesday morning behind the Godolphin runner Pinito.

Selling next Monday as Lot 292 is the Ole Kirk colt from young winning I Am Invincible mare I Am, a half-sister to stakes-winner Cuba.

He is the second foal of I Am, a grand-daughter of Group I winner La Baraka from the family of Group I winners Alizee and Astern, plus Group winners Amur and Zulfiqar with promising young sire Tassort also on the page.

I Am Invincible mares are increasingly making their presence felt and he is now sire of the dam of 100 winners including Group winners Kimochi, Asfoora and G2 Silver Slipper winner Straight Charge, who is bred along very similar lines to this colt as he is also by a son of Written Tycoon in Written By.

“This fella is one of the best moving colts we have on the farm this year, he hails from a very deep Australian pedigree and is incredibly well-balanced,” said Ricky Surace.

“He is the second foal of I Am, who is doing a great job in producing good looking, athletic stock and her first foal (colt) by Toronado made $200k at Magic Millions last year and by all reports he is gearing up towards some high-grade races in the autumn.”

The Toronado has been named Better Shape Up and is in work with Archie Alexander.

“This colt is very typical of the Ole Kirk’s from what I have seen and is a great advertisement at Premier for his sire,” Surace added.
