New SW Rubick – Second Winner I Am Immortal

Tara Madgwick - Monday February 26

Sunday proved a good day for the Swettenham Stud sires with a  new stakes-winner for Rubick and a second winner for young I Am Invincible stallion I Am Immortal.

The $150,000 Listed Tabtouch Pinjarra Classic (1300m) in WA was won by five year-rold Rubick gelding River Rubicon, who scored a long neck win in a competitive finish.

Trained by Steve Wolfe, River Rubicon has the overall record of eight wins and eight placings from 25 starts with prizemoney topping $500,000.

He’s been a terrific money-spinner for connections having been purchased for just $12,000 by Commercial Bloodstock Services from the Fernrigg Farm draft at Inglis Classic in 2020.

This $12,000 Inglis Classic purchase has won over $500,000 as River Rubicon!

River Rubicon was bred by Keith Biggs Enterprises and is the best of six winners from now retired stakes-placed Woodman (USA) mare Woodala, a grand-daughter of Rosecay, a full sister to Champion 3YO Filly Triscay with this branch of the famous family producing Group I winner Demerger and Group III winner Majestically.

River Rubicon is the 11th stakes-winner for Rubick.

I Am Immortal posted his second winner at Ballarat when the Danny O’Brien trained filly Immortal Star resumed from a spell to score a last stride win in the 1100m juvenile maiden.

She was in front and looked set for a  comfortable win until the swoopers arrived on the scene, but Immortal Star fought hard to cling on and win.

A modest $30,000 Inglis Premier purchase from the Noorilim Park draft for Superstar Racing, Immortal Star is the second winner from metro winning Hinchinbrook mare Tuskar Brook, a grand-daughter of Group I winner Love Dance.
