Inglis Breeding Stock Sale Entries Open

Media Release - Friday February 23

Entries to the 2024 Inglis Breeding Stock Sales Series – the most progressive in the country – are now open.

The Chairman’s Sale has cemented itself as the most exhilarating evening on the Southern Hemisphere sales calendar, with the unique atmosphere of the night creating a special occasion for both buyers and vendors which is unmatched at any sale in the Southern Hemisphere.

This year’s series will again be headlined by The Chairman’s Sale (Thursday May 9) and will also feature the Australian Weanling Sale (May 6,7), Australian Broodmare Sale (May 10), Great Southern Weanling Sale (June 13,14) and Great Southern Broodmare Sale (June 14).

In 2023, this sequence of sales was hugely successful, with a number of highlights including:

*9 lots sold for $1,000,000 or more at The Chairman’s Sale

*The top 25% of horses sold at The Chairman’s Sale averaged $1,277,500 – more than double the nearest equivalent Australian-based broodmare sale – while the top 50% average of $853,171 was 50% better than the nearest rival auction

*The average price for fillies and mares off the track at Chairman’s was $706,212

*The Inglis weanling sales continued their extraordinary growth, which has seen overall turnover increase 14% since 2021 while the Magic Millions National Weanling Sale turnover has decreased by 30% in the same period

*In 2023, Inglis sold 212 individual race fillies or broodmares for $100,000 or more

The 2024 renewals of each of the breeding stock sales are already shaping as must-attends for all serious buyers.

Places in the 2024 Chairman’s Sale are again strictly limited so please contact a member of the Inglis bloodstock team should you wish to enter stock.

Inglis Bloodstock CEO Sebastian Hutch is excited about the opportunities that lie ahead for both sellers and buyers through the series of sales.

“A number of years ago, we felt there was an opportunity to enhance the promotion of the best breeding stock in Australia to create a world-class sale and this has taken shape in the form of The Chairman’s Sale, which has been something of a revelation,” Hutch said.

“We have set a world-wide industry standard in terms of how the fillies and mares for the Chairman’s Sale are promoted and the night itself is an incredibly engaging spectacle, which is a huge part of the reason why the sale is so popular with vendors and buyers.

“It has very much become a night when we recognise and celebrate the race careers of these outstanding fillies or mares and the momentum behind The Chairman’s Sale going into the 2024 sale is very strong.

“The Australian Weanling Sale and the Great Southern Sale are two progressive markets that have been used to good effect by vendors in recent years and we are in the process of consolidating a strong base of support from a broad cross section of breeders for these sales in 2024.’’
