Meech pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding aboard Contilla in the sixth race, the Benchmark64 Handicap over 1100m.

Contilla shifted in while being ridden along near the finish line and caused Del Piero to be checked when tightened by Menabrea on his inside.

Stewards acknowledged that there was a marginal shift out by Menabrea on the inside of Contilla but deemed the interference in the mid range and suspended Meech for 10 meetings, to commence at midnight on July 24 and expire at midnight on August 3.

Meech has ridden 125 winners in Victoria this season, second only to Dean Yendall on 138.
