Canterbury 2YO Sale Mail Tonight

Tara Madgwick - Friday February 16

We have an interesting juvenile maiden at Canterbury on Friday evening that features the progeny of five first season sires, so let’s check out the sale mail.

Snitzel colt Gatsby’s will come out after drawing poorly and winning a trial at Rosehill yesterday, but there are plenty of other interesting runners including Extreme Choice filly Extreme Diva, whose only start produced a good fourth in the Group III ATC Widden Stakes won by Lady of Camelot.

She's a dual acceptor for the Pierro Plate on Saturday as are Excelindeed and Duvana, although this would look an easier assignment than taking on Shangri La Express and Switzerland.

Caulfield Guineas winner Super Seth has a live chance to post his first Australian winner with the John O’Shea trained colt Linebacker shaping well at the trials.

Linebacker was a $160,000 Karaka Book 1 purchase for John O'Shea Racing / Suman Hedge Bloodstock from the Haunui Farm draft and has obviously pleased his trainer John O’Shea as he purchased his full brother at Magic Millions from the Bhima Thoroughbreds draft for just $80,000.

Linebacker and his baby brother are from well related import Garden of Swans (GB), an unraced half-sister to Group I winner Mukhadram from the family of Group I winners Kirklees and Mastery. Pedigree says these guys should be better at three and over ground, so any result this season at two a bonus.
