One to Watch – Goulburn

Tara Madgwick - Thursday February 15

When the half-sister by Pierro to a Golden Slipper winner rolled the hot favourite on debut at Goulburn on Thursday, you just know you’re going to want to find out more!

Trained by Brad Widdup and ridden by Alysha Collett, three year-old filly Audrey’s Lane won her most recent barrier trial at Hawkesbury last month, but was not expected to trouble the favourite Private Legacy, who had contested Group fillies races last spring.

Audrey’s Lane hadn’t read the script and powered to the line full of running with Private Legacy unable to bridge the gap finishing second beaten just over a length in the 1300m maiden with four lengths back to the next horse.

Audrey’s Lane is a half-sister to Golden Slipper winner Mossfun and Champion Singapore Sprinter Aramco being the sixth winner from six to race from exceptional producer Eye for Fun, who is also the grand-dam of Group IIII winner Dajraan.

Audrey's Lane was passed in and retained to race.

Audrey’s Lane was consigned to Inglis Easter by Fairview Park Stud and after passing in shy of her $500,000 reserve was retained to race by her breeder Dr Ian Duckworth and leased to his family along with many other happy owners.

Fairview Park Stud sold the Ole Kirk yearling colt from Eye for Fun at Inglis Classic this week for $150,000 to PR Thoroughbreds and she produced a colt last spring also by Ole Kirk before missing to Hellbent.

The family is back in the spotlight of late thanks to exciting colt Bodyguard, the unbeaten Blue Diamond favoruite and brilliant winner of the Group III MRC Blue Diamond Prelude. Purchased for $1.6million by James Harron Bloodstock, Bodyguard is from Tumooh, an unraced daughter of Mossfun.
