$1.6Million Invincible Colt Wins G3 Blue Diamond Prelude

Tara Madgwick - Saturday February 10

Expensive I Am Invincible colt Bodyguard looked good winning the Listed VRC Maribyrnong Trial (1000m) at Flemington last spring and even better when resuming from a spell to score a dominant win in a hot clash of colts in the $300,000 Group III MRC Blue Diamond Prelude (1100m) at Caulfield on Saturday.

Trained by Peter and Paul Snowden, Bodyguard was drawn wide with Mark Zahra happy to let the colt travel three deep in the run before he surged to the line to beat impressive debut winner Stay Focused by half a length with the Blue Diamond Preview winner High Octane a luckless fourth.

Bred and sold by Emirates Park, Bodyguard was a $1.6million Magic Millions purchase for the James Harron Bloodstock Colt Partnership and James Harron was at Caulfield to see the glamour colt salute.

“He’s had a lot of x-factor from day one this horse, since we saw him at the sales. Myself and the partners got together and look, he’s a standout horse,” said James Harron.

“He looked amazing and has a wonderful pedigree and right from the get go the Snowden’s had a great opinion of him. You dream every night that they’re going to be this good and I’m delighted to see him do it the way he did today.”

Bodyguard is the first foal of Tumooh, an unraced half-sister by Fastnet Rock to Group III winner Dajraan from Golden Slipper winner Mossfun.

Tumooh has a yearling colt by Capitalist that was sold at Magic Millions this year for $300,000 to Busuttin Racing and after missing in 2022, she appears to now be in foal to Justify (USA).

There is one yearling to be offered at Inglis Classic from the immediate family of Bodyguard and that's Lot 261, Fairview Park Stud's Ole Kirk colt from Eye for Fun, the dam of Golden Slipper winner Mossfun and is the third dam of Bodyguard.
