Metro Treble for Pierro – Sister to Les Vampires for Inglis Easter

Tara Madgwick - Friday February 9

Pierro was running hot on Friday night with a winning treble courtesy of Simeon saluting at Moonee Valley, while Don Pedro got the cash in the second race at Canterbury with progressive three year-old Les Vampires following up in the very next race with a dominant win as a short priced favourite.

The Gai Waterhouse and Adrian Bott trained Les Vampires had three starts last spring that included a maiden win over subsequent Group II winner Encap and a seventh in the Group III ATC Up and Coming Stakes beaten just two and a half lengths by Group I winning colt Tom Kitten.

Tuned up with a couple of trials, Les Vampires ran right up to expectation spearing across from an outside gate to lead comfortably for Adam Hyeronimus before surging to the line to win by more than a length.

With two wins from four starts, Les Vampires seems likely to return to Black Type racing during the autumn.

Les Vampires was a $200,000 Inglis Easter purchase from Coolmore.

A $200,000 Inglis Easter purchase from the Coolmore draft, Les Vampires is a full brother to multiple Group winner and Golden Slipper place-getter Tulip and half-brother to Group III winner Sacred Eye being one of seven winners from nine to race from Group III winning Rock of Gibraltar (IRE) mare Musidora.

Coolmore will offer another Pierro filly from Musidora at Inglis Easter as Lot 175.
