Now the focus is on Inglis Classic with a consignment of 23 youngsters by a range of 17 different sires – click to see the full draft with half a dozen highlights below and comments from Ollie Tait:

Lot 90 Filly Dundeel x Art Glass, by Sebring

First foal of a well related winning Sebring mare from the Monsoon Wedding branch of the Shantha’s Choice family featuring Redoute’s Choice, Manhattan Rain, Shoals, etc . Bred on similar Dundeel x More Than Ready cross to G2 winner Let’srollthedice

“A really attractive filly, from the extraordinary Best In Show family. She is bigger than average and like most Dundeel’s, looks like she excel as a 3 year old and over some distance. She is correct, has a lovely action and a nice head.”

Lot 159 Filly Tagaloa x Celtic Sea, by Fastnet Rock

From the first crop of Group I Blue Diamond winner Tagaloa and is a half-sister to four winners including metro winners Celtic Vader and Celtic Rebel. From a winning half-sister to G3 winner Tony Nicconi.

“This filly has a lot of quality and plenty of scope. This is the first crop of the stallion, who was a top Australian 2 year old, but provides the Japanese blood that has come to dominate international racing. The filly is well related and is out of a good producing mare.”

Lot 180 Colt Peltzer x Complete Rort, by Fastnet Rock

From the first crop of So You Think’s fast G2 winning son Peltzer and is from a winning daughter of the hottest broodmare sire in the country in Fastnet Rock come from the immediate family of recent Group I Centenary Sprint Cup winner Victor the Winner.

“This colt has been on a big upward plane over the past six months. He has always been strong, but he has developed scope and quality. Typical of the Peltzer’s, he has a nice hip and a nice head and being out of a mare by Fastnet Rock is a big plus.”

Lot 255 Colt Maurice (Jpn) x Exceeds, by Snitzel

Half-brother to smart Matt Ellerton trained filly Retenir (3f Written Tycoon), who broke her maiden at Benalla last week by a length and a half and the two year-old filly from the mare Mrs Maree (Written Tycoon) trialled brilliantly to win a heat at Warwick Farm also last week. He is the fourth foal of stakes-placed Exceeds, who comes from the family of Group I winner Rock Kingdom. He is bred on the successful Maurice x Redoute’s Choice nick that has produced six of his nine Australian SW’s including classy filly Azula, who was sold by Twin Hills at Inglis Classic in 2022 for $100,000.

“We have a lot of faith in this mare, who was a talented two year old and has two promising daughters that are racing. This colt is big and strong and he walks well. He is bred on a powerful cross and could be quite an early sort for a horse by Maurice.”

Lot 760 Colt King’s Legacy x Swish, by More Than Ready (USA)

From the first crop of dual Group I winning juvenile King’s Legacy and is a half-brother to three winners with his dam doing a great job, three to race all winners and she is a daughter of juvenile SW Georgette Silk from the family of Group I winners Charge Forward, Southern Legend and Sydney’s Dream. He’s bred on the very successful Redoute’s Choice x More Than Ready nick with the two champion sires combining in the pedigrees of seven G1 winners including Shinzo, Griff, Rediener and Miracles of Life.

“It is always interesting to see the progeny of first season sires and this colt is a good advertisement for King’s Legacy. He is big, strong and forward with good conformation. He comes from a great female family.”

Lot 794 Colt Blue Point (IRE) x Treasure Island by Duporth

Half-brother to Group II MRC Thousand Guineas Prelude winning filly Bons a Pearler, who was also third in a G1 VRC Australian Guineas and is now campaigning in Hong Kong Kong. He comes from a proven Black Type family featuring Group I winner Hucklebuck and Group III winner Stirling Grove as well SW’s Kirvinsky and Kalamata.

“This is a well bred colt that has a nice shape and moves well. He has plenty of scope and whilst he is bred to run well as a 2 year old, there could be plenty to look forward to later on. His sister, Bon’s a Pearla, was very good.”
