First Stakes-Winner for Embellish

Tara Madgwick - Saturday January 27

On the eve of the NZB National Yearling Sales at Karaka, Savabeel’s Group I winning son Embellish has posted his first stakes-winner and it’s talented three year-old Bold Soul, who produced an amazing last to first win in the $125,000 Listed Launceston Guineas (2100m) in Tasmania on Australia Day.

A last start winner at Flemington, the Patrick Payne trained gelding was a hot favourite, but appeared a forlorn chance when he settled at the tail of the field, but when spurred into action Bold Soul changed gear for Jake Noonan, rounded up his rivals and dashed clear to win by more than a length.

Bold Soul has won three of five starts and placed twice earning just shy of $190,000 in prizemoney with the Group III Tasmanian Derby on February 9 his next assignment.

His trainer Patrick Payne won the Launceston Guineas and then the Derby last year with Dunkel, who then won the Group I South Australian Derby.

Bold Soul was a modest $20,000 Karaka Book 2 purchase from the  Te Keeti Bloodstock Ltd draft for Mr NH Auret and is the first winner for winning Singspiel import Twin Soul (IRE), who comes from a European female family featuring Group I winners Right Approach and Victor Security.

Embellish

He is the first stakes-winner for Cambridge Stud’s Embellish, whose oldest progeny are just three year-olds. He has one entry for Karaka Book 1 and 16 for Book 2.
