Spirit Of Boom Colt Thundering Soul Makes Winning Debut at Scone

Mark Smith - Sunday January 21

A third 2-year-old winner for the season for Spirit Of Boom when the Kris Lees-trained debutant Thundering Soul triumphed in a dramatic finish to the Yarraman Park Hcp (900m) at Scone on Sunday.

The race changed dramatically over the final 100m in a field of seven first starters. Dylan Gibbons brought Thundering Soul down the centre of the track to defeat the Brutal filly The Eyes Have It by a neck, with the Headwater gelding Ride The River a half-length back in third.

“It was an outstanding win by a young horse going places,” stable representative Kieran Forbes said.

“Dylan gave him time to find himself, and he hit the line hard.

“He is a lovely Spirit Of Boom colt with a future.”
