Canterbury Winners Bring Inglis Classic Updates

Tara Madgwick - Saturday January 20

The Inglis Classic Yearling Sale is fast approaching on February 11, 12 and 13 with two winners on the Canterbury card last night bringing pedigree updates for their sales bound siblings.

Progressive Astern mare Lovero resumed from a spell as a short priced favourite in the 1100m Benchmark 72 event. The Gerald Ryan and Sterling Alexiou trained mare scored a resounding three and a half length win and looks set for a great campaign where she can build oner already tidy record of three wins and five placings from just 11 starts with prizemoney topping $116,000.

By Astern from the stakes-placed import Chocolatier (IRE), Lovero has a full sister for Inglis Classic to be offered by Alma Vale / Kitchwin Hills partnership as Lot 170.

The filly comes from a most successful international family that has achieved success here producing Champion 2YO Colt and champion sire Pierro.

Lightly raced Written Tycoon gelding Botanica scored his second win for Team Hawkes when taking out the Benchmark 72 event over 1250m and has now won two of six starts and appears to have turned a corner this preparation.

A $140,000 Inglis Classic purchase for Vinery Stud from Woodside Park for Vinery Stud , Botanica  is the first winner from Amaryllis, a metro winning half-sister by Commands to stakes-winner Fifteen Rounds from imported stakes-winner Sugar Bay (Can).

Vinery Stud will offer the three-quarter sister to Botanica as Lot 68, a filly by Written Tycoon’s champion son Ole Kirk from Amaryllis.

Ole Kirk

Ole Kirk had strong results at the recent Magic Millions sales and has 23 yearlings for Inglis Classic.
