Kirsten Rausing on Global Webinar Next Week

Media Release - Monday January 15

An exclusive film on Kirsten Rausing’s story, ‘An International Bloodstock Journey’, offers a wonderful insight for Thoroughbred breeding and racing enthusiasts in ITBF’s annual Global Webinar next week.

The International Thoroughbred Breeders’ Federation (ITBF) will be hosting their industry acclaimed annual, free to attend, event on Thursday 18th January at midday (Gmt). Having previously featured Juddmonte and The Aga Khan Studs, this year the webinar puts the significantly smaller- scaled operation of Lanwades and its hands-on Owner and Manager, Kirsten Rausing, under the microscope.

Introduced by international racing broadcaster, Nick Luck, the attendee will be able to follow the journey, from the pedigree obsessed Scandinavian teenager, to owner-breeder of World Champion ALPINISTA - heroine of the 2022 Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe. Kirsten Rausing has bred and raised the winners of over 2,220 races worldwide, including 34 Group 1 wins and has bred two World Champions. She has served as a former British TBA Chairman, former EFTBA Chairman (European Federation of Thoroughbred Breeders’ Associations), is the current ITBF Chairman and Founder and Trustee of the ALBORADA Trust. Following the film, produced exclusively for the webinar, attendees will be given the unique opportunity to pose questions in a live Q&A with Miss Rausing.

The veterinary section of the webinar shines a much-needed international light on Equine Grass Sickness. The devastating disease that tragically claimed the life of Dubawi’s sire Dubai Millennium, remains a mystery as to its causes. With an 80% fatality rate, it can occur anywhere in temperate areas of the world where equids are grazed. Esteemed presenters Dr Richard Newton, Director of Epidemiology & Disease Surveillance, and Dr Beth Wells, Principal Research Scientist at Edinburgh’s Moredun Institute, discuss the disease’s characteristics, what the veterinary profession have learnt so far, and how we can globally assist in progressing research and therefore the resulting answers so desperately required.  Questions to the presenters are welcomed in the live Q&A.
