$1.3million Zoustar Colt Keeps Segenhoe Million Dollar Streak Going

Tara Madgwick - Friday January 12

It was another day at Magic Millions on Friday and another million dollar yearling sold by Segenhoe Stud, but this $1.3million Zoustar colt from Lady Cosmology was a little different as he was offered on behalf of WA owner breeder Peter Walsh of Amelia’s Jewel fame.

$1.3million Zoustar colt from Lady Cosmology.

Walsh has had good success breeding and racing under his Amelia Park banner and while Lady Cosmology was not quite Amelia’s Jewel, she was a very good racemare in her own right winning multiple Group and Listed races with earnings topping $640,000 and this is colt is her second foal.

“Lady Cosmology was probably my second best horse that I’ve ever owned, she ran second to Arcadia Queen in the Guineas and the Champion Fillies and she beat her in the Burgess Queen so she only raced in Group races and Black Type and she always performed very well and she was a tough, tough mare,” said Peter Walsh.

“He’s a beautiful horse and I would like to keep something in him if I can.”

Lady Cosmology was also bred and retained to race by Peter Walsh and her first foal is an unraced two year-old Trapeze Artist gelding called Our Existence, who is trained by Adam Durrant. She produced a filly last spring by Russian Revolution.

The $1.3million colt is the sixth colt bought at this sale by the James Harron Colts Partnership, who have already had good success with their purchases from last year.

They signed for five colts last year and three are already stakes-winners – Espionage (Zoustar $1million), Bodyguard (I Am Invincible $1.6million) and Highness (Snitzel $900,000), who runs in the Magic Millions 2YO Classic.

“She was a super-fast mare, she had great form around the likes of Arcadia Queen etcetera, a household name in the west, and he was a cracking colt; a beautifully-balanced horse who handled the sale very well and we were very keen to get him,” said James Harron.

“She’s just getting going, a young mare and it’s very exciting. I’m pleased to get him, he was born and raised at Segenhoe and we’ve had a lot of luck off that particular farm.”

JHB purchases from Segenhoe include Highness, who runs in the Magic Millions 2YO Classic on Saturday and dual Group I winner winner King’s Legacy, whose first yearlings are selling this year.
