Two More Million Dollar Yearlings for Champion sire I Am Invincible

Tara Madgwick - Wednesday January 10

Reigning champion sire I Am Invincible added two more million dollar yearlings to his tally at Magic Millions Wednesday with a colt and a filly both selling for an even $1million.

$1million I Am Invincible colt from Arcadia Queen.

Offered late in the day, the first foal of multiple Group I winner Arcadia Queen was snapped up by Hawkes Racing providing a good result for Arrowfield Stud, who purchased the glamour daughter of Pierro for $3.2million at the 2021 Magic Millions National Broodmare Sale from her owner breeders Bob and Sandra Peters.

“You always hope he might be a champion, it doesn’t always work that particular way, but he’s a lovely horse from a great family,” said John Hawkes.

“You just hope he does make the top level but only time will tell.”

“He’s just a lovely balanced horse and naturally he’s been well-prepared by Arrowfield. He’s been purchased for good stable clients, so we’re really looking forward to breaking him in and getting him into the system.”

Arcadia Queen has another I Am Invincible colt to follow and is now in foal to Dundeel.

$1million I Am Invincible filly from Vezalay.

I Am Invincible also delivered a big result for Widden Stud, who sold a filly from stakes-winning Shamardal (USA) mare Vezelay for $1million to Yulong trading as Highway Farm.

The filly is a half-sister to promising metro winning filly Zouphoria and is bred on the same cross as superstar sprinting mare Imperatriz.

“It is a family that Widden have owned for a long time and a family that I have seen over many years and everything out of the family has been very good looking from decades ago,”said Vin Cox.

“No exception there and being by the most prominent stallion in the county and a good race-winning mare, it is a formula that works.

“She’s got residual for a for a long way forward and I think her half-sister (Zouphoria) with Gai Waterhouse is a bit above average so hopefully she can go the right way as well.”

Sadly, Vezalay died prematurely in 2022 and this filly is her final foal.
