James Harron Purchases $775,000 for King’s Legacy Colt

Tara Madgwick - Tuesday January 9

The highest price for a yearling by a first season sire during the first session of Magic Millions on Tuesday was $775,000 paid for a handsome bay colt by Coolmore’s dual Group I winning son of Redoute’s Choice, King’s Legacy.

A close relation of champion sire Not a Single Doubt, King’s Legacy sold for $1.4million at this sale ring in 2019 when purchased by bloodstock agent James Harron, who signed the docket for the Bhima Thoroughbreds consigned colt from Group III placed Star Witness mare Serenade, a half-sister to dual Group I winner Stratum Star and Group III winner Prague.

"In our opinion he was one of the nicest horses on the ground,” said James Harron.

“He has a lovely pedigree and off a great farm. King’s Legacy is one of the most exciting first season sires around.

“We knew we’d have to be strong on him (bidding) and we’re happy.”

Bred by Jonathan Munz’s GSA Bloodstock, he is the third foal of Serenade, whose second foal is two year-old Exceed and Excel colt Wolfgang, who made $500,000 at this sale last year and runs in the Magic Millions 2YO Classic on Saturday for Lloyd Kennewell and Lucy Yeomans after recording two wins from three starts.

Sadly for her owner, Serenade died last year and the King’s Legacy colt is her final foal.
