Zoustar Mare Wins $250,000 MM TAB Wave

Tara Madgwick - Saturday January 6

Exciting two year-old colt Spywire was not the only Widden Stud graduate in the winner’s circle at the Gold Coast on Saturday with Goulburn trainer Kurt Goldman executing a long range plan to win the $250,000 TAB Wave (1800m) with four year-old Zoustar mare Arts Object.

Sent off at 50-1, Arts Object proved too good scoring by a length with Angela Jones in the saddle.

Goldman revealed the victory has been a work in progress for some time.

"It was a six month plan, it was a long way out," Goldman said.

"Brought her up here for the winter carnival and this is what we wanted.

"Set weights, four-year-old race, it was a logical race to target with a mare like this."

Arts Object was a $100,000 MM purchase from Widden.

Arts Object was a $100,000 Magic Millions purchase for her trainer from the Widden Stud draft and has four wins and four placings from 17 starts with prizemoney topping $244,000.

She was re-offered in the Late Alan Cardy Dispersal on Inglis Digital in December 22 and was returned to Goldman after selling for $55,000 with the Bodacious Syndicate now racing the talented mare.

Bred by Widden in partnership, Arts Object is a half-sister to Macau Derby winner Simon Fubuki and is one of three winners from Ringhals, an unraced Stret Cry (IRE) daughter of Group I winner Black Mamba.

Widden Stud will present a massive draft of 77 yearlings at the Gold Coast next week.
