Located in the rolling hills of Cootamundra in NSW, Twin Hills Stud is a proven nursery for elite thoroughbreds and they will offer a diverse draft of 17 for Magic Millions including youngsters by the farm’s exciting young sire Peltzer and the only filly in the catalogue by reigning Champion New Zealand sire Proisir.

Peltzer has his first yearlings on offer at Magic Millions, click for more info.

A speedy and precocious son of So You Think, Peltzer was a Magic Millions purchase for Gerald Ryan and David Raphael and won his only three starts as a juvenile including a debut victory over subsequent Group winner Anders. He blossomed at three to win several Group races up to 1600m and retired with six wins from 13 starts and over $1million in prizemoney.

There is every reason to believe Peltzer will get speedy types like himself and he has seven entries for Magic Millions, three to be offered by Twin Hills including Lot 575, a quality colt from Demetria, who has left three winners highlighted by Group III placed Plutocracy.

Peltzer colt from Demetria.

Demetria is a half-sister to dual Group I winner Samaready, the dam of Golden Slipper winner Shinzo and Magic Millions 2YO Classic winner Exhilarates, so has the pedigree to entice.

“From day one, the colt out of Demetria was one of the picks of Peltzer’s first crop,” said Olly Tait.

“He moves beautifully and has a magnificent shape. He comes from an amazing family and looks very sharp.”

Smart Missile filly from Magical Mist.

Another of the Twill Hills sires is proven Group I producer Smart Missile and he is the sire of a unique filly in Lot 905, the half-sister to Group winners Yellow Brick, Ballistic Boy and Splendiferous, who went to stud for the first time last year and is in foal to Justify (USA).

“This filly has an exceptional pedigree and is a beautiful specimen,” said Olly Tait, who likens this filly to Smart Missile’s Group I winner Maid of Heaven.

“She is the only filly in this catalogue to have three or more stakes-winning siblings and has scope, strength and quality.

“Her mother is an exceptional producer and sold to Yulong last year for $775,000 at the MM National Sale, so we consider this filly to be a unique offering, given her combination of pedigree and physique.”

Proisir filly from Jazamour.

There is only one filly in the entire Gold Coast catalogue by Proisir and Twin Hills will offer her as Lot 808.

Proisir has emerged as a top class sire with five G1 winners last season and another in Waitak already on the board this year. This filly is the first foal of Jazamour, a winning half-sister to stakes-winner Humbucker.

“She has been prepped in the Waikato and it has been commented to me that she is outstanding.  Proisir is a brilliant stallion and it is worth noting this filly is also closely related to the 1000 Guineas winner Lady Of The Pines,” Tait added.

Lot 378 Colt Wootton Bassett (GB) x Zafina, by Stratum

From the first Australian crop of proven Group I sire Wootton Bassett and is second foal of a fast four time winning metro performed half-sister to Group II winner Go the Knuckle from the family of Group II winning sire Magic Albert.

This is a glorious colt with few flaws. He has a lovely head, is a little bigger than average and walks fluently. Wootton Bassett has created plenty of chat with his first Australian yearlings and this colt is an example of why. This colt’s pedigree is very strong with top horses having been produced by unfashionable stallions.

Lot 381 Filly Lonhro x Zegota, by All Too Hard

Second foal of a winning daughter of a full sister to Australian Horse of the Year Typhoon Tracy and the family also features seven time Group I winner Alligator Blood with Group I winning blue hen Tracy’s Element this filly’s third dam.

This Lonhro filly is magnificent. She has her father’s colour and head, but she is bigger than most of his fillies. She is beautifully balanced for a big horse and moves well. She comes from one of Australia’s very best families.

Lot 910 Filly Farnan x Majestic Trick (USA), by Hat Trick

From the first crop of Golden Slipper winner and Champion 2YO Farnan and is the third foal of Majestic Trick (USA), a winning half-sister to Group II winner Sweet Vendetta and stakes-winners Half Heaven, Love Cove and Doll Baby. This is the same US family that has had success in Australia to produce talented mare Junqueira, winner of the $250,000 MM Rising Stars fillies and mares on Saturday.

What an outstanding 2yo Farnan was and it is exciting to see his first yearlings. This filly is big and powerful and looks early. She moves well and has a good temperament. She comes from a fast American family, the type of which seems to work well in Australia and they provide the all important element, speed.
