Are You Ready for Better?

If you’re a fan of Better Than Ready and who isn’t, you’ll be beating a path to the Yarramalong Park draft at Magic Millions which features 22 of his stock including the full sister to Group II winner Chrysaor, current favourite for the $3million Magic Millions 3YO Guineas.

Yarramalong bred and sold Chrysaor as a weanling for $60,000 and he turned a handsome profit for Bell River Thoroughbreds when he returned to the Magic Millions sale ring as a yearling and was snapped up by Star Thoroughbreds / Randwick Bloodstock for $115,000.

Trained by Chris Waller, Chrysaor was forward enough to contest the Magic Millions 2YO Classic as a long shot, but has blossomed at three winning the $1million Group II ATC Callander Presnell in the spring  and showed with his strong second in the Group III BRC Vo Rogue Plate last Saturday that he’s the horse to beat at the Gold Coast this year in the 3YO Guineas.

Yearling full sister to Chrysaor.

Lot 1005 is the full sister to Chrysaor, by Better Than Ready from New Wings, a winning sister to stakes-winner Religify from the family of world champion sprinter Silent Witness.

She has been a favourite since she was born and Yarramalong Park’s Richard Foster is looking forward to getting her down to the Gold Coast.

"Comments from judges at farm inspections agree with our opinion on this filly. She is just outstanding, athletic and a real sweetie,” Foster said.

Yarramalong Park set a new benchmark for Better Than Ready at this sale last year when their colt from Secret Indulgence sold for $530,000 to China Horse Club/Newgate/Go/Trilogy and while he is yet to race, he has been named Whiskey. He is currently in work with Peter and Paul Snowden and looked good finishing third in his first trial at Warwick Farm on Tuesday morning.

Better Than Ready colt from Secret Indulgence, whose brother sold for $530,000 last year.

Lot 152 is the full brother to last year’s record breaker and is also a sibling to dual Group III winner Amangiri and Group I placed More Secrets, plus two more winners from terrific producer Secret Indulgence, a winning half-sister by Fastnet Rock to Group I VRC Victoria Derby winner Amalfi.

"An athletic, beautifully put together colt. He might be more precocious than his brother, but a class colt just the same," Foster commented.

Lot 14 Colt Better Than Ready x Our First Lady, by Denman

Full brother to stakes-placed Steady Ready, who was a close second to Group I winner Rothfire in the $750,000 King of the Mountain on New Year’s Day. A $70,000 MM purchase from Yarramalong Park, Steady Ready has won just shy of $500,000 in prizemoney!

Lot 376 Filly Better Than Ready x Yukon Dance, by So You Think

Third foal of an unraced sister-in-blood to SW Northwest Passage and daughter of multiple Group II winner Shania Dane from a family packed with Black Type winners. There is an important update to this pedigree as Yukon Dance is now the dam of a winner and she’s a promising winner in the Chris Waller trained Kenyada (3f Kermadec), who has started twice for a win and an unlucky second at Canterbury.

Lot 603 Colt Better Than Ready x Dreamarcher (USA), by Archacharch

Second foal of imported US SW, who was also fourth in the Group I Santa Anita Oaks and comes from a solid Black Type family. First foal is a 2YO So You Think colt that made $190,000 at this sale last year when bought by Archer Park Racing and has been named Dream Thinker although yet to trial.

Lot 690 Colt Better Than Ready x Freezethemillions, by Freeze

Full brother to $1.8million earning Group III winner Alpine Edge and smart Sydney metro winner Port Lockroy, who was also fifth in the Group I ATC Spring Champion Stakes before spelling. Stakes-placed dam Freezethemillions has the perfect record of five to race all winners!

Lot 799 Filly Better Than Ready x Istiraaha, by Redoute’s Choice

Second foal of unraced half-sister by Redoute’s Choice to Group I winner Rewaaya and to the dam of Group I winner Sense of Occasion from the Asawir branch of the famed Easy Date family that has produced Golden Slipper winner Forensics, dual Group I winning 2YO King’s Legacy and champion sires Not a Single Doubt and Snippets.

Lot 930 Colt Better than Ready x Merirosvo (USA), by Lonhro

Full brother to stakes-placed filly Ana Jaahza, who showed great ability with a stakes-placing behind good colt Brave Mead and a win over quality filly Mollynickers from just three starts before premature retirement. Dam is a North American bred daughter of champion sire Lonhro tracing back to Champion US Mare and six time Group I winner Inside Information.
