Ridden by Damian Lane for Anthony and Sam Freedman, the son of Gleneagles came with a barnstorming finish from last to defeat the topweight Amade (IRE) (Casamento) by two lengths with Grand Pierro (Pierro) a head back in third.

After taking eight starts to open his account in Australia, Glentaneous (IRL) has reeled off wins at Sandown, Moonee Valley and Flemington. Stable Manager Brad Taylor said the Adelaide Cup in March has been pencilled in.

"He has had a couple of niggling issues that have held him up getting to the races," Taylor said.

"Those are under control now and he is a progressive stayer. When he ran second at Sandown first-up, Sam said let's target the Bagot and the plan has come off.

"Damian has a good affinity with him. He shot around them when they bunched up on the corner and was much too good.

"We thought the Adelaide Cup might be a nice target for him. We will get him to the farm and tinker about with him as the Adelaide Cup is in March. The way he won today, we may also consider the Sydney Cup."

A winner of two of his nine starts in England for Brian Meehan,  Glentaneous (IRL) was a 160,000gns purchase for    Australian Bloodstock / Ronald Rauscher / Anthony Freedman Racing at the 2021 Tattersalls Autumn Horses In Training Sale.

A half-brother to the Herbert Power Stakes runner-up and Geelong Cup third, Makram (Make Believe),  Glentaneous is out of the Sindaar mare Spontaneous a sister to the dual Group 1 winner Youmzain, Group 1 Lockhinge stakes winner Creachadoir (King's Best), and the Group III winner Shreyas (Dalakhani).

Glentaneous (IRE) is the 35th stakes-winner for Galileo's Two Thousand Guineas winner Gleneagles, who stands at Coolmore Stud (Ireland) for €17,500.
