Mark Smith - Saturday December 30

Ridden by Daniel Stackhouse for Ben, Will, and JD Hayes, Jenni's Meadow came with a sweeping run from second last to defeat the Star Witness debutant In Her Eyes by a short-neck with another first starter, the Starcraft filly Lady Gimlet a length back in third.

The top lot by Brutal at the Magic Millions and second overall from his first crop, Jenni's Meadow, was a $260,000 purchase for Tony Ottobre's Cape Schanck Stud from the Raheen Stud draft.

"I thought she was fantastic and a great ride by Stacky," Ben Hayes said.

"There was a bit of pressure early, and he got her balanced and in to a rhythm. She travelled well and let down great.

t;She has a lovely big action and I think she will be better over further.

"A big congratulations to Tony (Ottobre). We loved her at the sales, and he beat us, so we went straight up to him and asked if there was a chance we could have her train.

"He is a great judge, and we look forward to having fun with her."

A half-sister to the stakes-placed winner Flower In The Wind, Jenni's Meadow has a Heroic Valor half-sister in the Raheen Stud draft heading to the Magic Millions (lot 1256).

Her dam, Meadow (Redoute's Choice), is a Brisbane-winning daughter of the top-class Encosta de Lago mare Strawberry Field, a Listed winner and placed in the Group II ATC Emancipation Stakes and Group II VRC Rose Of Kingston Stakes and fourth behind Typhoon Tracy in the Group 1 Queen Of The Turf Stakes.

Meadow foaled a Bivouac filly on October 31.

Standing at Newgate Farm for $22,000, Brutal has 13 lots at the Magic Millions and eight at the Inglis Classic.
