Juvenile Trial Watch – Rosehill

Three heats for juveniles at Rosehill on Friday morning and all three heat winners have designs on the Gold Coast with one headed to the $3million MM 2YO Classic and the other pair looming as likely contenders for the $500,000 Magic Millions Debut events for unraced colts / geldings and fillies.

Snitzel colt Highness looked the goods winning the Wyong Magic Millions Classic earlier this month and was given a nice send along in his 900m heat by Michael Freedman to win by nearly three lengths over Trapeze Artist colt Barracuda, who is high in the ballot order for the MM Debut colts and geldings.

James Harron Bloodstock look to have a strong hand with their two year-old colts this season and $900,000 purchase Highness is up there with Bodyguard and Espionage.

Running only slightly slower time was the Clarry Conners trained Written Tycoon filly Mrs Maree, who made it two trial wins this prep and also plenty to like with Zoustar filly The Stars in the Torryburn colours showing abundant natural talent. Mrs Maree is in the ballot order for the MM Debut for fillies.

A $500,000 MM purchase for her trainer from the Twin Hills draft, Mrs Maree runs for John Singleton’s Strawberry Hill Stud and is from stakes-placed Snitzel mare Exceeds, whose yearling colt by Maurice (Jpn) will be offered by Twin Hills at Inglis Classic as Lot 255.

Winning at his first public trial was the Gai Waterhouse and Adrian Bott trained Exceed and Excel colt Excelindeed, who travelled deep all the way and was pushed along to score a narrow over his stablemates Fully Lit and Kaluakoi, who finished with a rush.

An $800,000 Magic Millions purchase from the Edinburgh Park draft for  Kia Ora Stud Pty Ltd/TFI /Dermot Farrington Bloodstock, Excelindeed is a three-quarter brother to Group II winner Glenfiddich and his dam was bought by Yulong for $325,000 at the MM Edinburgh Park Dispersal this year. They also purchased her Zoustar weanling filly for $425,000 at the same sale and she was entered for MM 2024, but has been withdrawn.
