Juvenile Trial Watch - Wyong

Breednet - Friday December 15

Four unraced two-year-old trial winners at Wyong on Friday look fertile ground for future winners including a Written Tycoon for Singo and Clarry Conners, a Zousain for Maher/Eustace and a Pierata for Kris Lees.

Heat 14 was won very impressively by the Clarry Conners trained Mrs Maree, having her second trial after finishing third at the Official 2YO trials at Randwick in September.

She is by Written Tycoon from the Snitzel mare Exceeds, a Sydney 2YO winner and stakes placed, from the family of Epsom Handicap winner Rock Kingdom.

Conners signed for the filly for $500,000 when offered by Twin Hills Stud at the Magic Millions Gold Coast Sale in January and races in the colours of John Singleton’s Strawberry Hills Stud, continuing one of the longest owner/trainer relationships in the game.

Twin Hills will offer the half-brother by Maurice as Lot 255 at the Inglis Classic Yearling Sale in February.

Heat 15 saw the Maher/Eustace trained filly Froebel Star also having her second trial and winning nicely after a 2nd in her initial outing at Kembla Grange.

By Widden Stud’s first season sire Zousain, out of the stakes placed Germayne Lass (Stromberg Carlson), she was a $320,000 purchase for her trainer and David Redvers Bloodstock from Raheen Stud at the Magic Millions Gold Coast Sale.

Zousain has only seen two to the races so far but this filly becomes his fourth trial winner yet to race with a further five trial placegetters in the same boat, so the new year is full of potential.

Heat 16 saw another by a first season sire win impressively with the Kris Lees trained colt Wobbly Boot.

By Pierata from the US bred stakes placed Plastered, he is from a family that includes champion Ad Valorem and was originally a $200,000 weanling buy at the Magic Millions National Weanling Sale for Bahen Bloodstock from Newhaven Park before subsequently offered at Inglis Easter by Vinery Stud, passing in on a reserve of $350,000.

Pierata already has a stakes winner on the board with Debutant Stakes (LR) winner Coleman, and it’s hard to imagine this colt won’t add to his tally once he hits the races.

The other two-year-old heat was won by Search Warrant (2c Capitalist x Mahlia).

A $20,000 buy for his trainer Mark Cross and G Pratt form Riversdale/ Ashleigh Thoroughbreds at Inglis Classic.
