Plucked from the Newgate Farm draft for just $180,000 by MG Price Racing & Breeding, Unconquerable has been given plenty of time by co-trainers Mick Price and Michael Kent Jr and the patience is paying off.

Sent out favourite for the 1100m maiden, Unconquerable forged clear to win by three-quarters of a length for Damian Lane and will take good benefit from the run.

A big scopey filly that was a work in progress as a yearling, Unconquerable is beginning to grow into her frame and fulfil her obvious potential.

"She trialled up like a genuine Saturday class three-year-old, this time of year, but you're never really sure because I didn't take her off the bridle," Lane said.

"You think you know what's under the hood but you're never absolutely positive until you ask for that full effort and still today when I did that she was very raw, she got her head in the air and her legs went everywhere.

"She hadn't gone that quick before, she was a little unsure, but to her credit she knuckled down and showed a few signs of a good horses, hopefully she can learn from the experience and continue to improve."

Unconquerable was a $180,000 Inglis Easter purchase.

Mick Price believes her big group of owners will have some fun with Unconquerable, who was not the most desirable yearling.

"All we have done is be very gentle with her," Price said.

"She's quite a sizeable horse and sort of a little bit ugly, but she doesn't look ugly at the moment.

"She's a big strong clean winded filly, 1200m will be no problem."

Unconquerable was bred by Nick Vass and is a sibling to Group III placed Pindaric and smart metro winner Kir Royale being the third winner from stakes-winner Champagne Cath.

Newgate will offer the yearling Capitalist filly from Champagne Cath at Magic Millions as Lot 515.
