Upset in Listed Conquering Stakes

Tara Madgwick - Thursday December 14

Tasmanian star galloper The Inevitable was expected to win the $125,000 Listed Conquering Stakes (1400m) at Launceston on Wednesday evening, but the eight year-old son of Dundeel couldn’t overhaul 25-1 shot Indispensable, who credited champion sire Fastnet Rock with yet another stakes-winner as a broodmare sire.

Having his second run in Tasmania for new trainer John Blacker, the seven year-old Akeed Mofeed (GB) gelding ruined the party for crowd favourite The Inevitable scoring by more than two lengths to take his overall record to nine wins and 17 placings from 46 starts with prizemoney topping $446,000.

Bred by Goldin Farms in South Australia, Indispensable is the fourth stakes-winner for Dubawi stallion Akeed Mofeed (GB) and is the best of two winners from Group I placed Fastnet Rock mare Essence.

He appears in the family of Lot 575 in Karaka Book 1, a colt by El Roca from Amy Belle offered by Westbury Stud. It’s also the family of two time Hong Kong Horse of the Year Beauty Generation.

Indispensable is the 103rd stakes-winner for Fastnet Rock as a broodmare sire and is his 11th in Australia this season.
