French Stakes-Winner for Shalaa

It’s been a good weekend for Woodside Park sires with Vancouver getting his first Group I winner in Overpass, while Shalaa (IRE) delivered a French stakes-winner overnight when Siam Paragon won the Listed Prix Luthier (1500m) at Deauville on the all weather track.

The four year-old entire was tenacious in scoring a short head win taking his overall record to eight wins from 20 starts with this victory his second Black Type success.

Shalaa also went close to siring a stakes-winner in Australia on Saturday when his slick sprinter Semillion finished third beaten just half a length in the Listed MRC Doveton Stakes.

Shalaa is finishing his first season at Woodside Park in Victoria at a fee of $22,000 after starting his stud career at Arrowfield and has eight entries for Magic Millions and six for Inglis Classic.
