Widden Stud Purchase Exciting Colt I Am Unstoppable

Media Release - Monday December 4

Widden Stud are always on the lookout for new stallion prospects that fit their established profile for success and are thrilled to announce the acquisition of high class I Am Invincible colt I AM UNSTOPPABLE, who was an unbeaten stakes-winning 2yo and closed out his spring campaign with a brave second in the $2million Group I VRC Coolmore Stud Stakes (1200m) at Flemington.

I Am Unstoppable is a new acquisition for Widden Stud.

The Lloyd Kennewell and Lucy Yeomans-trained colt split Zoustar’s brilliant son Ozzmosis and Golden Slipper winner Shinzo to grab a fast finishing second place in a big field of 16 starters representing the cream of Australia’s three year-old sprinters.

Blake Shinn rode I Am Unstoppable that day and believes the best is still to come: “That was superb in the circumstances, he relaxed like the good colts do and we were following Cylinder, who unfortunately didn’t take us into the race as expected.

“Held up in traffic in a race which suited being on speed, the winner was given all the favours. To hit the line that well from the position he was in was remarkable. He’s an exciting colt, and I hope I can be part of his future because he has a big one ahead of him,” enthused Blake.

A G1 placed stakes-winner - I Am Unstoppable has not missed a place in six starts .

With two wins and four placings from six starts and prizemoney just shy of $600,000, I Am Unstoppable has never missed a place and is set to return for an ambitious campaign in 2024.

In a deal brokered by Group One Bloodstock’s Mathew Becker, Widden Stud purchased the multiple Group placed stakes-winner and will be offering 20 shares of the 40 share syndicate to clients, with Antony Thompson to act as Racing Manager.

“He will remain with Lloyd Kennewell and Lucy Yeomans, as they’ve done a terrific job with him to date and our initial target races will be the Group I VRC Lightning Stakes and Group I VRC Newmarket Handicap early in the New Year,” said Antony Thompson.

“He finished his spring in top form and has gone to the paddock a sound and happy horse, so we anticipate he can be a real force in the sprinting ranks next year."

I Am Unstoppable has G1 goals for 2024.

“It’s very exciting to have a colt of his calibre come through our stable and watch his development. He is a dream to train and is a fantastic colt in every sense. It’s a massive thrill for myself and Lucy to be training a future Widden stallion, now we are all looking for the ultimate goal of Group 1 success,” said Lloyd Kennewell.

By the reigning champion sire I Am Invincible, I Am Unstoppable has an elite female pedigree with his first three dams Satin Slipper (Listed), Satin Shoes (Group II) and Star Satire (Group I) all stakes-winners, while his dam and grand-dam are by Golden Slipper winning sires Pierro and Flying Spur.

“I Am Unstoppable was a fast, unbeaten stakes-winner at two that has trained on at three and has all the attributes we like to see in a stallion prospect, and I was blown away when I saw him last week,” Thompson said.

“He is an outstanding physical specimen - a real Bull with serious strength, a quality head and great masculinity, plus he’s beautifully balanced and is everything you expect when you think of an exceptional I Am Invincible.”

“We welcome all enquiries on this most exciting colt that will ultimately retire to Widden, either in NSW or Victoria, with that decision to be made in due course.”
