Peter McMahon Wins Queensland Qualifier for Magic Millions Off the Track Cup

Tara Madgwick - Wednesday November 29

The Magic Millions Queensland Off-The-Track Showjumping Qualifier at Darling Downs Showjumping Club was held on Sunday with Kolora Lodge’s Peter McMahon and Royal Talisman posting a brilliant win.

Peter McMahon and Royal Talisman win the MM Queensland Off the Track qualifier.

With two impressive clear rounds and a speedy jump off, Peter and Royal Talisman (who competed at the TSHA National Titles last week ridden by Peter’s daughter Elkee) along with seven fellow competitors will make their way to the Gold Coast for the finale at the 2024 Pacific Fair Magic Millions Polo & Showjumping.

Royal Talisman is a 14YO gelding by Victoria Derby winner Benicio  from Temeraire and proved a less than successful racehorse with five unplaced starts racing as Immortalis before finding his true calling as a showjumper.

He is a half-brother to stakes-winner Humbucker and comes from the family of Group I winner Lady of the Pines. Using Breednet’s Family Search for upcoming yearling sales shows two entries related to this star showjumper!, Click to see them.

A World Cup showjumper with a thriving spelling, breaking and pre-training business, Peter McMahon has broken in many of the top colts purchased by James Harron Bloodstock.

Queensland qualified rider and horse combinations:

1st Royal Talisman & Peter Lang-McMahon

2nd Ocean Eight & Andrew Cooper

3rd Mankell & Sienna Owen

4th Simply Res Charged & Bella Wozniak

5th Dusty Girl & Cody Tincknell

6th Radjish J & Tim Trihey

7th Royal Chevolet & Natalie Siiankoski

8th Waratone & Sarah Weiss

Presented together with Queensland Off-The-Track Kim Duffy and Magic Millions Sales and Off-The-Track Ambassador Ally Mosley, the qualified horse and rider combinations are one stride closer to taking out the coveted $50,000 prize purse.

The NSW qualifier will take place on the 7th December at the Magic Millions Summer Showjumping Classic CSI-W in Sydney with all successful combinations to then compete in the Queensland Off-The-Track Cup Final at the 2024 Pacific Fair Magic Millions Showjumping on January 7.
