One to Watch – Newcastle

Tara Madgwick - Sunday November 26

When Kermadec gets a good one, he gets a really good one, so when a well bred three year-old filly by him makes a winning debut for champion trainer Chris Waller we want to take a closer look and this girl has a lot of relatives headed to yearling sales in 2024.

A patient approach has been taken with Kenyada, who has had five trials this year and placed in none, but sent out over 1500m  first up this big scopey filyl let down with a good finish for Zac Lloyd to win running away by a couple of lengths.

Kenyada runs for her owner breeder Michael Crismale of Matrix Racing and was retained to race after passing in shy of her $70,000 reserve at Inglis Classic when offered by Lime Country Thoroughbreds.

She is the first winner for Yukon Dance, an unraced So You Think daughter of the Crismale family’s former top line mare Shania Dane, a Group I place multiple Group winning sister to Hong Kong stakes-winner Scintillation from a family packed with Group and stakes-winners including Group I winning juvenile Summer Passage.

Yukon Dance was on-sold in 2021 at the Magic Millions National Broodmare Sale to Yarramalong Park for $60,000 and they will offer her current yearling, a filly by Better Than Ready as Lot 376.

She’s not the only relation to Kenyada in upcoming sales with now fewer than 13 yearlings from this terrific family that traces to Machiavellian mare Subterfuge (GB), are you offering one of them? Click to see the results of the family search for Kennyada.
