2YO Debut Winner for Deep Field

Tara Madgwick - Sunday November 26

A competitive juvenile event at Newcastle on Sunday featured some well bred types with Deep Field filly Deep Joy arriving late on the scene in driving rain to claim a half length win.

Trained by Ciaron Maher and David Eustace and ridden by Dylan Gibbons, Deep Joy was second at her only previous trial and produced a strong effort to win the 900m scamper over Godolphin homebred Glorioso (Epaulette) with Tassort colt Sacred Fort in third place.

Deep Joy was a $70,000 Inglis Classic purchase.

Deep Joy was a $70,000 Inglis Classic purchase from the Kirks Bridge Farm draft for Ciaron Maher Bloodstock / Starblue Consultancy and is the second winner from Find Joy (USA), an imported stakes-winning daughter of Drosselmeyer.

Fans of Deep Field will find it’s slim pickings at the sales this year as the now pensioned sire had fading fertility in 2021 and has just 60 odd yearlings for 2024.

Magic Millions have catalogued 32 and Inglis Classic have six.
