More Stakes Success for Comrade Rosa

Tara Madgwick - Saturday November 25

Graham and Linda Huddy are great supporters of racing both on the track and in after racing life care and particularly with their Peachester Lodge showjumping teams, but their talented Capitalist mare Comrade Rosa is set for a career at stud rather than the jump arena after posting her third stakes victory at Doomben on Saturday.

Trained by Tony Gollan, Comrade Rosa took giant strides last preparation when winning the Group II BRC Dane Ripper Stakes and she looks set for another great campaign winning the Listed BRC Tattersalls Classic (1200m) at her second run back from a spell.

Sent out favourite, Comrade Rosa powered to the line to win by a length under Ryan Maloney with better wins in store.

“She was a real flashing red light the other day from a bad alley so we had to cop our medicine, but we got a good one today,” Gollan said.

“It was an 11 out of 10 ride, he put her in the right spot and put her into the race at the right time, the best horse won the race.”

Comrade Rosa was a $100,000 Inglis Easter purchase from Kitchwin Hills.

A $100,000 Inglis Easter purchase for Peachester Lodge from the Kitchwin Hills draft, Comrade Rosa seven wins and five placings from 21 starts with prizemoney in excess of $570,000.

Given she is not Magic Millions eligible, Comrade Rosa will be given an easy time over the summer.

“We will give her a light summer, there will probably be one more run and then back off her, she will be pretty busy next year because we want to get her back to the Tatt’s Tiara,” he said.

“Ever since she got up here to Queensland, she has really turned a corner with the sun on her back.”

Comrade Rosa was bred by Kitchwin Hills and is the best of four winners from stakes-winning Redoute’s Choice mare No Looking Back, whose dam Mirror Mirror won the Magic Millions 2YO Classic, a race that was famously taken from No Looking Back on protest.

No Looking Back was sold at the Magic Millions National Broodmare Sale in May for just $40,000 in the Blue Sky Premium Consignment to M & C Bloodstock in foal to Written By, but was re-offered on Inglis Digital in late June after Comrade Rosa had won her Group II race and made $150,000 when bought by Boomer Bloodstock.

She produced a colt by Written By for her new owners in September.

The Breednet family search has unearthed one yearling from the family of Comrade Rosa to sell at Inglis Classic as Lot 770 from Paramount Thoroughbreds, a Star Turn filly from Tennessee Diamond.

Comrade Rosa is the third stakes-winner this season for Capitalist, who is the most represented sire at both Magic Millions and Inglis Classic.
