Pinhook Winners at NZB Ready to Run

The record breaking NZB Ready to Run Sale this week made for some spectacular pinhook success stories with the Top five horses sold at this sale all returning huge profits for their vendors, so let’s take a close look.

The star of the show was the Star Turn colt from Commonwealth that set a new record for a breeze up horse in this part of the world when fetching $825,000 for KB Bloodstock and bought by Hong Kong owner Pato Leung, who was represented at Karaka by trainer Benno Yung and his daughter Samantha.

$120,000 Inglis Classic yearling sells for $825,000 to top the sale!

The colt was a mega successful pinhook having been sourced from the Fairview Park draft at Inglis Classic for $120,000 by Solari Bloodstock. Bred by Ian Duckworth, he is the first foal of well related Foxwedge mare Commonwealth, who comes from the family of Group I winners Criterion and Comin' Through.

Fairview Park will offer the yearling filly from Commonwealth by first crop sire Anders at Inglis Classic in February as Lot 179.

Next was the All Too Hard gelding from Tuscany Lady that made $800,000 for Riversley Park when bought by Willie Leung on behalf of owner Mr Yeung Kin Man, with the Yungs as underbidders.

$100,000 MM Book 2 purchase sells for $800,000.

He was plucked from the Baramul Stud draft for $100,000 at Magic Millions Book 2 by Riversley Park/Michael Guerin. Bred by Gerry Harvey, he is the fourth foal of Tuscany Lady, an unraced Mossman mare from the family of Group winners Heather and Peat Bog. Tuscany Lady has a yearling filly by Headwater and was covered last spring by Exceedance.

The other horse to sell for $800,000 was the Harry Angel (IRE) colt from Monrecour, who was sold by Kilgravin Lodge after being purchased originally for $150,000 from the Inglewood Stud draft at Karaka Book 1 by RTR Partnership / McKeever Bloodstock.
