$140,000 Critique Tops Inglis Digital

Media Release - Wednesday November 22

Exciting colt Critique (Written Tycoon) topped today’s Inglis Digital November (Late) Online Sale, realising $140,000.

Offered by Newgate Farm and partners, Critique sold to Golden Bloodstock in a result Newgate’s Henry field described as “outstanding’’.

Critique sold for $140,000 to top the sale.

“We continue to have success selling on the Inglis Digital platform and the horses we sell continue to have success on the racetrack so all in all, it works exceptionally well,’’ Field said, noting Newgate’s recent Inglis Digital success stories including Rule Of Law – a six-time winner of almost $300,000 in earnings – and Dance, a dual winner of almost $500,000.

“Critique is a really nice horse with significant racing upside for his new owners, so I wish them all the best.’’

Today’s second-top lot was fellow 3YO Headley Grange (Exosphere).

Offered by his trainer Noel Mayfield-Smith, Headley Grange sold for $120,000.

“It’s interesting, based purely on what he’s done so far he’s probably sold for big overs but how do you measure potential? That’s what he’s got a lot of,’’ Mayfield-Smith said.

“I’ve used Inglis Digital before as both a buyer and seller and I really like it, I’ve had success on both fronts, it’s very easy.

“This horse is a really nice three-year-old, he has a lot of upside, he’s only lightly raced and the new owners should have a lot of fun with him.’’

The third-top lot today was talented sprinter Treporti (I Am Invincible), who was offered by her connections including the likes of Bruce Perry, Lib Petagna, Jomara Bloodstock, Rosemont Stud, Jamieson Park and Waikato Stud.

The Danny O’Brien-trained 5YO sold to Cameron Richardson for $100,000.

Richardson purchased Treporti on behalf of Frank and Judy Manwaring.

The three-time winner will be transported to the Toowoomba stables of Cameron’s trainer father Harry.

Treporti most recently raced on Thousand Guineas Day at Caulfield last Saturday and was beaten less than four lengths by So Risque.

“He was pretty unlucky on Saturday and the tried horse market is really quite strong at the moment so he definitely wasn’t cheap but we’re really happy to have got him,’’ Richardson said.

“He’ll come up to the Toowoomba stables now and hopefully be back in races in Brisbane over the Christmas and New Year period.''

Danny O’Brien Racing General Manager Matt Harrington added: “We’re very pleased with the result.

“Prospective owners out there want horses who can run at Metro standard and this horse definitely can so I’m sure the new owners will enjoy the ride with him.’’

Today’s November (Late) sale grossed $1,987,450.

Entries are now open for the December Online Sale and will remain open until midnight on Wednesday December 13.

The sale – the only Inglis Digital auction to be held next month – will run from Dec 15-20.

Prior to that, a standalone digital sale for top-class proven producer Enquare will be held early next week.

Enquare is the dam of G3 Ming Dynasty winner and G1 Golden Rose runner up Encap and is being offered carrying an early pregnancy to Capitalist, making the resultant foal a full sibling to Encap.

The Enquare Standalone Sale will go live on inglisdigital.com on Friday afternoon.

Bidding will open at 9am Monday (November 27) and the final countdown of bidding will begin from 4pm on Tuesday (November 28).
