Justify Colt Goes Two for Two

Tara Madgwick - Wednesday November 22

There is no mistaking the sire of Heads You Lose, the big baldy faced chestnut son of Justify (USA) cruising to his second win at Warwick Farm on Wednesday in the famous China Horse Club colours carried by his sire.

Trained by Chris Waller, Heads You Lose won his maiden on debut at Kembla last month on a heavy track over 1500m and produced the same result when stepped up to 1600m in good conditions to win eased down by three lengths for James McDonald.

“It was a tactical race as can happen with just four runners, but he’s put them away well and was very strong to the line,” said stable representative Charlie Duckworth.

“He obviously stays well and it was good to see him do it on a dry deck after winning on a wet track first up.”

James McDonald was well pleased with Heads You Lose, who was a $280,000 Inglis Weanling Sale purchase from Fairhill Farm for China Horse Club / Newgate Bloodstock.

“I think he can progress really nicely as he uses himself beautifully and he can sustain a long gallop,” he said.

Heads You Lose was a $280,000 weanling sale purchase for China Horse Club, Newgate and partners.

Bred by Reg Kemister, Heads You Lose is a half-brother to Group III winning sire Super One and Group II placed Super Too being the fourth winner from four to race from Tails Wins, an unraced mare by Tale of the Cat (USA).

Tails Wins has a yearling filly by Justify and has foaled this spring producing a colt by Yes Yes Yes.

Heads You Lose is the third winner in the past week for Justify, who is the equal leading second crop sire by winners.
