Just Rewards for Pride Of Dubai's Hypothetical in Village Stakes

Mark Smith - Saturday November 18

The incredible run of success enjoyed by Pride Of Dubai shows no signs of slowing down, with his daughter Hypothetical joining the party with a dominant performance in the Neds Village Stakes at Caulfield.

Ridden by Michael Dee for Anthony and Sam Freedman, Hypothetical was not for catching in defeating the Night Of Thunder (IRE) gelding Curran by two lengths with the Lonhro gelding Sghirripa a nose back in third.

Few deserved a stakes success more than Hypothetical, who has placed in five stakes races; the 5yo mare advances her record to six wins, four seconds, and three thirds from 16 starts with earnings of $445,750.

“We’ve been trying for the stakes win for a while and she’s had some narrow defeats. Michael (Freedman’s) mare (Queen Of The Ball) came down during Cup Week and spoiled us last time.

“She’ll be off to stud next season, but I think we can raise the bar now.

“I watched Michael’s mare (Queen Of The Ball) work on Tuesday and she had us covered so we decided to go to this race.

“She’s a mare that’s got a high cruising speed. You don’t want to go too slow on her and you need to keep her work up.

“She can win a race from the 800 and be out on her feet. I think we’ve ridden her a bit cute on occasions and Mick Dee going well makes a big difference.

“It is time for a break. She has been up for a little while and probably got one more race in her before she goes to the breeding barn.

“We could look at a race like the Sangster and run in the first three or something like that. She’s got a great pedigree and now with a nice CV on the track. She’ll be a lovely broodmare.”

“It has been a whirlwind couple of weeks. Very exciting and we have the staff celebrations tomorrow to get through.

“Off early on Monday morning and deliver the Melbourne Cup to (Sheikh Mohammed Obaid Al Maktoum) on Tuesday. He’s got a nice full cabinet now with a Caulfield Cup and Melbourne Cup.”

Hypothetical a $310,000 Inglis Premier yearling

A $310,000 purchase for Mitchell Bloodstock (FBAA) from the Segenhoe Stud draft at the 2020 Inglis Melbourne Premier Yearling Sale, Hypothetical is a half-sister to stakes-placed winner Avenue of Pleasure (I Am Invincible) out of the Fastnet Rock mare Fitna, a daughter of the Group 1 ATC Champagne Stakes winner Carry On Cutie.

It's a timely win for Eureka Stud, which consigns a Spirit Of Boom half-sister to Hypothetical at the Magic Millions in January.

Harry McAlpine Bloodstock purchased Fitna for $70,000 from the Segenhoe draft at the 2021 Inglis June (Early) Online Sale.

The daughter of Fastnet Rock foaled a Pinatubo (IRE) colt on October 19.

Hypothetical is stakes winner 21 for Pride Of Dubai, who is riding high this season through the deeds of Pride Of Jenni, Bella Nipotina, Deny Knowledge and Fancy Man.
