One To Watch - Gundagai

Mark Smith - Friday November 17

Danny Williams looks to have a highly promising 3-year-old in the strapping grey colt Kreon, who left a big impression at his career debut in a $50,000 super maiden over 1100m at Gundagai on Friday.

With Nick Heywood in the saddle, the son of top Japanese sire Rulership took up the running but was pestered by the well-supported Spirit Of Boom mare Box Of Crackers. After dropping her off before the home turn, Kreon lengthened impressively to defeat the 3-year-old Divine Prophet gelding Huddersfield by four and a quarter lengths, with Box Of Crackers a head back in third.

The stable made no secret that Kreon was well above average, and he started a short-priced favourite.

Kreon a $375,000 Inglis Easter yearling

Danny Williams Racing has the final say at $370,000 for the son of Rulership from the Arrowfield Stud draft at the 2022 Inglis Australian Easter Yearling Sale.

Kreon is the third foal and second winner for the Kurofune mare Shirayuki (JPN).

A 2-year-old winner over 1200m at Fukushima, Shirayuki was runner-up three times in a career restricted to six starts.

A half-sister to the stakes-winning Lord Kanaloa mare Amphitrie, Shirayuki is out of a half-sister to Group 1 ATC George Ryder Stakes and Group 1 Yasuda Kinen winner Real Impact (JPN) and Group 1 Queen Elizabeth II Cup winner Neorealism (JPN) who stands at Grandview Stud.

RMA Bloodstock and Danny O'Brien Racing bought a The Autumn Sun x  Shirayuki filly for $115,000 from the Arrowfield Stud consignment at the 2023 Inglis Premier Yearling Sale. She has been named Grinzinger Sun.

Shirayuki (JPN) has a yearling colt by The Autumn Sun and foaled a Castelvecchio colt on September 6.

Arrowfield has a three-quarter sister to Kreon named Nanyo Venus (JPN) (Rulership), whose first foal, Umetini (Just A Way), finished second in a 1500m maiden at Sandown-Hillside at her second start in March for the powerful Ciaron Maher & David Eustace stable.

Rulership (JPN) (King Kamehameha) has sired 28 stakes-winners, which include the Caulfield Cup hero Mer De Glace and the unbelievably brave Kiseki, winner of the Group 1 Kikuka Sho and runner-up in the Japan Cup.
