Juvenile Trial Watch - First Season Sires Shine

Breednet - Wednesday November 15

There were a couple of two-year-old heats at the Wyong barrier trials on Wednesday with both heats won by first season sires.

Heat 15 saw the Kim Waugh trained Too Darn Hot filly Mizella having her second trial after winning her first outing at Newcastle in October.

Mizella as a yearling

She was again impressive, showing good gate speed to lead and after being shaken up in the straight went to the line with her ears pricked seemingly with something in reserve.

Mizella is the first foal of Deep Field mare Intrigue and is from the family of dual South African Group One winning Australian bred mare Happy Archer.

She was a $120,000 buy for Paul Moroney Bloodstock, Catheryne Bruggeman and Manco from A List Stud at Book Two of the Magic Millions Gold Coast Sale.

Too Darn Hot has had only the one Australian runner so far for the promising Arabian Summer, placed at stakes level at both her starts to date.

Heat 16 saw the Kris Lees trained Aged Care win at his first public outing.

Showing good gate speed, he went clear in the straight while still looking quite raw and green and went to the line with his ears pricked so there looks more to offer also from this one.

Aged Care's weanling shot

By Brutal out of the Bernardini mare With Care, he was purchased for $40,000 at the Inglis Australian Weanling Sale by A Carusi from Toolooganvale Farm.

Brutal has had only two to the races so far and indeed only two have been out at official trials also so with a first crop of 120 there’s plenty waiting in the wings.
