Oaks Day at Flemington in Thursday features four stakes races starting with the Group III VRC Ottawa Stakes (1000m) for the two year-old fillies with a competitive field of nine featuring runners by first season sires – Royal Meeting (IRE), Too Darn Hot (GB), Alabama Express and Yes Yes Yes.

Five of the runners have race experience which as we saw in the Group III VRC Maribyrnong Plate on Tuesday is valuable with the winner there Dublin Down lining up for his third start!

Yulong based Alabama Express has had an exciting start to his stud career and has two runners with Karavas winning at Murray Bridge on debut, while the Lindsay Park team will send out unraced Harpalee.

Eneeza is the highest priced filly by Exceed and Excel sold in 2023.

Most expensive runner at $1.1million is Exceed and Excel filly Eneeza, who was bought at Magic Millions from the Silverdale Farm draft by Kia Ora Stud. She is the second foal of Group II winning Bel Esprit mare Sweet Sherry.
