New Zoustar SW in New Zealand

Tara Madgwick - Tuesday November 7

Cambridge Stud and their private trainer Lance Noble celebrated a memorable afternoon at Pukekohe on Tuesday winning four races including the Listed Fulton Family Stakes (1500m) won by five year-old Zoustar stallion Habana.

A horse with a great winning strike rate, he improved off a last start Group III placing to charge home with a well timed run to snatch a long head win.

“He came through that well, he’s a lot stronger this year than he was last year and his record at Pukekohe is really strong,” Noble said.

A $160,000 Magic Millions National Weanling Sale purchase for Lyndhurst Farm, Habana was withdrawn from sale as a yearling and passed in at the Redy to Run Sale at two. He has the overall record of seven wins from 14 starts with this victory his first stakes success.

Habana is a flashy type with a prominent silver tail.

Habana was bred by Aquis and partners and is the best of three winners from Jeter, a winning half-sister by Mossman to Group III winning sire Fast ‘n’ Famous from stakes-winner Zalinda, a daughter of Group I winner Alynda.

Habana is the 44th stakes-winner for Zoustar, who is riding high after siring Ozzmosis to win the Group I VRC Coolmore Stud Stakes on Saturday.
