First Win for $1.7million Not a Single Doubt

Tara Madgwick - Thursday November 2

The most expensive yearling from the final crop of Arrowfield Stud’s much missed champion sire Not a Single Doubt broke his maiden at Gosford on Thursday, but not in the way connections probably hoped.

Trained by Ciaron Maher and David Eustace, Unquestionably was a $1.7million Magic Millions purchase from the Segenhoe Stud draft for Ciaron Maher Bloodstock/TFI and runs for a big syndicate of owners, who were no doubt thinking they had invested in a stallion prospect.

Given six barrier trials since the start of the year and gelded along the way, Unquestionably made his debut at Kembla last month finishing third over 1500m and was stepped up to 1900m at his second start on Thursday.

The three-year-old came with a late rush at the finish to snatch a head win and can hopefully improve from the experience.

Unquestionably was a sale ring star - second highest priced yearling at MM 2022.

The decision to train him as more of a stayer isn’t surprising as he is the first foal of Group III winning Sebring mare Miss Admiration, who was a dour stayer with her only wins at 2000 and 2400m complimented by Group I placings in the ATC Australian Oaks and SAJC Australasian Oaks.

Miss Admiration has a yearling colt by Capitalist and produced another colt by Snitzel this spring.
