One To Watch - Newcastle

Breednet - Monday October 30

A Written By filly that has hinted at talent at times looks set to deliver with a bit of maturity after a powerful win at the first start of a new campaign at Newcastle on Monday.

Solutionist as a yearling

Solutionist was tested in the Wyong Magic Millions on debut by trainer Kris Lees back in December where she was beaten three and a half lengths by Sovereign Fund and then wasn’t seen again for three months where she failed in a Gosford Maiden’ in March.

It’s been six months since then, and coming off a barrier trial win in September, she could scarcely have been more impressive outclassing the field at her first three-year-old run and with a margin, time and sectionals which would all indicate she is capable of progressing to better grades successfully.

Solutionist, by Written Tycoon out of the Sebring mare Positive Problems, is the second highest priced filly by her sire, making $340,000 at the 2022 Magic Millions Gold Coast Sale to Australian Bloodstock from the Widden Stud draft.

It continues a strong start to the season for second season Written By with Solutionist being his 10th Australian winner and he currently sits fourth on the winners list.
