A commanding win by quality three year-old colt Tom Kitten in the $2million Group I ATC Spring Champion Stakes (2000m) at Randwick last Saturday has added plenty of lustre to his young sire Harry Angel (IRE), who has two youngsters to be offered at the NZB Ready to Run Sale.

A stakes-winning juvenile last season for Godolphin, Tom Kitten has blossomed this spring and is the first Group I winner worldwide for Harry Angel, who runs at 7.5% SW to runner in the Southern Hemisphere with his oldest progeny just three year-olds.

The champion three year-old sprinter of his generation and one of 15 G1 winners by outstanding sire Dark Angel, Harry Angel may get his second Group I winner this Saturday. His hopes will rest on quality filly Stretan Angel, who is looking to upstage the colts in the Group I VRC Coolmore Stud Stakes (1200m) after beating them in the Group III VRC Danehill Stakes at the start of the month.

Two youngsters by Harry Angel will be offered in the Ready to Run Sale and they are sure to be well inspected.

Lot 123 is a gelding offered by Riversley Park from unraced Flying Spur mare Mamahuhu, a full sister to multiple Group I placed Group III winner Primus.

This youngster traces back to legendary racemare and matriarch Denise’s Joy via the Clifton Gardens branch of the family.

Lot 143 is a colt offered by Kilgravin Lodge and is the first foal of Group III placed Monrecour, a half-sister to Group III winner Speedy Grey from stakes-winner Udiditagain.

The gallop for this one is well worth a watch as he shied quite badly at something that caught his eye and still got his mind back on the job and clocked 10.47 seconds!

The 2023 edition of the Sale will take place at the Karaka Sales Centre from 11am (NZT) on 22 & 23 November with Breeze Ups completed at Te Rapa Racecourse on 16 & 17 October. Click here for the full catalogue.
