Bold Bastille Upholds a Family Tradition in Inglis Banner

Mark Smith - Saturday October 28

A three-quarter sister to the 2019 Inglis Banner (RL) winner Ideas Man, Bold Bastille was in a race of her own in the $500,000 1000m scamper at Moonee Valley on Cox Plate Day.

It was also the second stakes success for the family within twenty-four hours following the win of the top-class She Dances in the Listed Chautauqua Stakes (1200m) at The Valley on Friday night.

Ridden by Mark Zahra for Ben, Will and JD Hayes, the daughter of Brazen Beau was never headed in a three-length romp over Hayasugi, a daughter of first-season stallion Royal Meeting (IRE), with the Extreme Choice filly Chosen Legend a further length and a half back in third in an all-filly finish.

"That was pleasantly surprising," Zahra said.

"Her jumpouts have been ok. She's learnt from her first one (jump out).

"I knew she had speed, but when I asked, she found a little bit the other day. I said to them she's fast and I'm not sure for how long, but when I got to the front, and her ears were pricked, it was all over.

"I’d been cuddling her a bit at the trials, but I just thought that there wasn’t a heap there. But I was wrong.”

Ben Hayes said he was taken with the daughter of Brazen Beau from the time he saw her at the Inglis Premier.

“She was a horse we loved at Inglis Premier. We found a buyer in Ozzie Kheir,” he said.

“It was the first horse we’d bought together and the whole ownership group.

“She was so professional today. She was able to jump, cross and it was a pretty easy watch the last 200 metres.

“It is a big thrill and a very nice winner two years in-a-row.”

Bold Bastille a $270,000 Inglis Premier yearling

A $270,000 purchase for Lindsay Park Racing / Group 1 Bloodstock (FBAA) from the Blue Gum Farm draft at the Inglis Premier Yearling Sale, Bold Bastille is the third winner from four to race for the Exceed And Excel mare Chloe In Paris.

The winner of the Listed VRC Bob Hoysted Handicap, Chloe In Paris is a half-sister to Ideas Man (Brazen Beau) and Charleston Dancer (Lonhro), the dam of She Dances (Street Boss), who, besides her win the Chautauqua Stakes, captured the Group III Northwood Plume Stakes.

This family has clicked with Brazen Beau as Chloe In Paris’ half-sister Original Choice (Redoute's Choice), is the dam of Listed winner and VRC Sires’ Produce Stakes runner-up Larimer Street (Brazen Beau).

A daughter of Des Pope’s top-class Rubiton mare Innovation Girl, Chloe In Paris has a yearling brother to Bold Bastille, and missed last spring.
