Riverbank Farm Offer Value and Fertility

The reputation of renowned South Australian breeder Harry Perks has been in the spotlight this spring with a new flurry of stakes performers headed by Group I MRC Toorak Handicap winner Attrition and stakes-winning three year-olds Air Assault and Arctic Glamour, who both hold Group I aspirations.

A breeder who plans matings for the racetrack rather than the sale ring, Perks has a sustained record of success that is the envy of many and Caroline Osborne of Riverbank Farm in Victoria is thrilled to stand one of his best performers of recent times in Dalasan.

A smart two year-old that won his first two starts at 1000 and 1100m before finishing second in the Group II VRC Sires Produce Stakes, Dalasan trained on to be a multiple Group winner at three and a super competitive WFA older horse with Group I placings in races such as the Doncaster and Epsom Handicaps as well as the Queen Elizabeth II Stakes.

“He was the complete racehorse and banked over $3.5million in a career that spanned 41 starts producing eight wins and nine placings,” said Caroline Osborne.

“For breeders looking for longevity and soundness in addition to speed, he really offers exceptional value.”

Standing at a fee of $5,500, Dalasan has a diverse pedigree being by the Aga Khan Stud’s Dalakhani (IRE), who shuttled to Cornerstone Stud in South Australia for three seasons from a US female family steeped in Black Type.

“We’ve been pleased with the support he’s received and importantly as we get into the latter part of the season, his fertility is excellent,” Osborne added.

“He was such a professional as a racehorse and is exactly the same for us in his new stud career. He’s taken to this like a duck to water!”
