Juvenile Trial Watch – Hawkesbury

Tara Madgwick - Monday October 16

There was just one heat for juveniles at Hawkesbury, but it featured the full sister to champion three year-old colt Trapeze Artist, who is basking in the glory of siring Griff to win the Group I MRC Caulfield Guineas on Saturday.

Trained by Gerald Ryan and Sterling Alexiou as was her famous brother, Gai’s Artist also has the same prominent white blaze and colouring so was easy to pick out in her trial. The Snitzel filly pressed forward to take the lead for Tyler Schiller and was kept going to the line to win by three-quarters of a length.

A homebred for Bert Vieira, who also bred and raced Trapeze Artist, Gai’s Artist is the fifth foal from Treppes, who has had three foals to race for two winners and both of those winners are by Snitzel, who is also the sire of her current yearling colt.
