Kristen Manning to Write The Gauch

Media Release - Thursday October 26

Melbourne Books is proud to announce that work has begun on THE GAUCH, the official biography of champion jockey Darren Gauci.

To be written by Kristen Manning, author of Prince Of Penzance and Fields Of Omagh, the book - due to be released in time for the 2018 Spring Carnival - will focus on the many highlights of a brilliant racing career.

"We are very proud to be publishing the story of one of the great local sporting legends," said Melbourne Books' David Tenenbaum.

"This is a such an exciting project," Kristen Manning said, "one that I feel extremely privileged to be working on."

"As I started out being a jockey I didn't ever imagine that I would be taking part in writing a book about my career," Gauci said.

"I am looking forward to working with Melbourne Books and Kristen Manning."

"There may be people out there who have scrapbooks or articles from the past that I would love to have a look at," Manning said.
