Winning Double for Zoustar Bluebloods

Tara Madgwick - Tuesday October 10

Widden Stud’s champion sire Zoustar is setting the pace this season for Australian winners and racked up his 50th and 51st of the season on Tuesday when a pair of blue blood three year-olds saluted at Mornington and Newcastle.

A homebred for Rob Crabtree’s Dorrington Farm, the Mick Price and Michael Kent Jr trained filly Floozie had the benefit of race experience and fitness on her side going into the 1200m maiden at Mornington and was sent out favourite.

Placed at her first two starts at Geelong and Sandown last month, she proved much too good with Damian Lane in the saddle, coasting home to win by more than three lengths.

Floozie is the second foal and second winner for Group I MRC Blue Diamond Stakes winner Catchy, who was raced with great success in the Dorrington Farm colours winning over $1.9million in prizemoney with multiple Group wins and Group I placings on her impressive CV.

Rob Crabtree was on hand to greet Floozie on her return to scale.

Dorrington Farm sold a Too Darn Hot (GB) filly from Catchy through the Bhima Thoroughbreds draft at this year’s Inglis Easter Yearling Sale for $550,000 to Anthony Cummings and the nine year-old daughter of Fastnet Rock produced a filly this spring by Pinatubo (IRE) after missing to Extreme Choice.

Another notable winner for Zoustar at Newcastle was the Hawkes Racing trained colt Grand Larceny, a half-brother to Everest hero and Champion 3YO Sprinting Colt Yes Yes Yes.

Third on debut at Bendigo last month, Grand Larceny led all the way for Zac Lloyd to win the 900m maiden by a length and a half as favourite.

Grand Larceny was an $800,000 Magic Millions purchase from the Kitchwin Hills draft for PR Funds and runs for a syndicate that includes Werrett Bloodstock, Musk Creek Farm and Rifa Mustang among others.

Grand Larceny was an $800,000 MM yearling sold by Kitchwin Hills.

Grand Larceny is a half-brother to $7.1million earner Yes Yes Yes and stakes-placed Dee Nine Elle being the fifth winner from six foals to race from Sin Sin Sin, a half-sister by Fantastic Light (USA) to stakes-winners Hot as Hell, Flaming Hot, Craig’s Dragon and to the dam of multiple Group I winning sprinter In Her Time.

Kitchwin Hills sold a Snitzel filly from Sin Sin Sin at Inglis Easter this year for $510,000 to David Redvers and she has a yearling colt by Zoustar to follow and is due to foal to Ole Kirk.
