A couple of three-year-old fillies and a lightly-race entire are horses to follow from the past week’s racing around New South Wales.
PASSAGE OF TIME (Canterbury 18/10/2017)
Comes out of a strong midweek Benchmark 79 at Canterbury where he was beaten just over half a length second-up from a break. The winner Osborne Bulls looks destined for stakes class and the third placed Slow Burn is also well above average. This four-year-old entire won first-up on debut for Joe Pride and you have to admire the way he sticks his neck out at the business end of his races. A horse’s desire is unfortunately innate – it can’t be trained. This bloke’s commitment to race is there for all to see. He wasn’t able to take up his usual position in the lead last time but if he can get conditions run to suit next time out he will take some beating.

ALL TOO SOON (Kembla Grange 19/10/2017)
A promising filly from the David Payne stable that returned from a spell over 1400m without trialling. She’s going to be suited over much further than 1400m and think her effort to finishing within a length of the winner was commendable, especially considering that she probably wouldn’t have been suited by the fast tempo first-up. Always dangerous tipping maidens but this filly has strong enough form to suggest a win isn’t far away.

CHILLY CHA CHA (Wyong 22/10/2017)
Thought this was an excellent first-up run by a filly having only her second career start. She’s a half-sister to Group I winner Suavito and is sure to be more effective over distances beyond 1350m. Started favourite in this maiden handicap and was only caught late by a smart debutante from the Gerald Ryan stable in Antelope. Can quickly atone.
